Paved over railway no cause for alarm

A paved over section of the E&N Railway in Langford is only temporary, assures city engineers, explaining it was done for Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria on Sunday, June 24.

The patch of fresh asphalt covering the tracks on Atkins Road below Mill Hill will be removed sometime after the event, said director of engineering Michelle Mahovlich.

Tour de Victoria – whose principal goal is to promote participation – has stages suitable for all levels of riders. The Island Savings 100 kilometre portion of the race kicks off from Langford City Centre Park at 8:15 a.m. The ride runs throughout the West Shore, along with areas of Saanich, Sidney, Oak Bay and Victoria.
